Job Description:

  • To lead, develop, and implement strategic sales and business development initiatives that drive sustainable growth, customer acquisition, and financial inclusion, in alignment with FCMB Microfinance Bank’s mission to empower underserved communities — especially women and youth — through innovative financial solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and execute the bank’s nationwide sales and business development strategy with a focus on rural outreach and digital inclusion.
  • Lead market expansion efforts, especially in underserved regions, while building a robust customer acquisition pipeline.
  • Drive initiatives aligned with SDGs and CBN’s financial inclusion roadmap.

Team Management

  • Supervise, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Officers, and Field Agents.
  • Set KPIs and monitor performance across teams to ensure targets are consistently met or exceeded.

Product Development & Positioning

  • Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Risk teams to design innovative financial products including group lending, SME loans, savings, and insurance products tailored to the informal sector.
  • Ensure products are market-responsive and digitally accessible.

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with fintechs, NGOs, cooperatives, donor agencies (e.g., Mastercard Foundation, Women’s World Banking), and regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the bank at industry events and advocate for inclusive finance policy initiatives.

Customer Experience & Retention

  • Champion customer-centric solutions and ensure consistent feedback loops to improve products and services.
  • Leverage technology to improve customer onboarding, engagement, and retention.

Data & Performance Management

  • Use data analytics to monitor sales performance, identify trends, and guide strategic decisions.
  • Prepare periodic reports for executive management and the board.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field; MBA or Master’s in relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in microfinance, banking, or financial services with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • CBN-certified Microfinance Practitioner (Compulsory).
  • Proven track record of leading successful sales and business growth in a financial institution targeting low-income populations.
  • Strong understanding of microfinance methodologies (group lending, village banking, individual loans, agency banking).
  • Hands-on experience with digital financial services and agent banking models.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire geographically dispersed teams.
